The dolphins, each weighing about 30-40 kilogrammes, were found entangled in nets by a fishing group from Loc Ha Commune while operating offshore on Saturday morning. The larger measured more than 1.5 metres in length.
After freeing them from the nets, the fishermen carried the animals and released them safely into the sea.

Local officials said the action reflected long-held beliefs among fishermen, who regard dolphins as friendly and auspicious companions, while also contributing to conservation efforts.
Earlier, on March 16, 2024, fishermen in Co Dam Commune found a pod of 19 dolphins caught in nets, three of which had died. The remaining animals were later released back into the sea.
