Police in the central city of Danang have arrested a 29-year-old foreigner for robbing a gold shop in Hoa Cuong Ward, injuring a security guard and stealing jewellery worth nearly VND 833 million (approximately USD 32,700).
According to the police, the robbery occurred at PNJ store at 455 Nui Thanh Street around 7.45 pm on August 26. The suspect, identified as West Dale James, wore a Grab delivery uniform, helmet, gloves and backpack, and attacked a security guard with a metal bar before smashing glass displays with a hammer to steal gold and diamond jewellery.
He then fled on an unregistered motorbike hidden in a nearby alley.

Police launched an urgent investigation and arrested him at 10.30 am on August 27 while he was hiding in a rented apartment in An Hai Ward, Danang.
All stolen items and tools used in the robbery were recovered.
