Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha said enterprises that effectively implement ESG standards will gain a competitive edge, attract investment, and establish lasting credibility at the inaugural Vietnam ESG Forum held in Hanoi on April 23.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister praised the initiative of Dantri, the official media outlet of the Ministry of Home Affairs, for creating a platform that brings together stakeholders to exchange knowledge, experiences, and practical solutions for sustainable development.

According to Ha, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) has become an inevitable global trend and is now a key metric for measuring the sustainable development of businesses and nations alike. Investors, consumers, and communities are increasingly factoring ESG into their decision-making.

"Enterprises that do well in implementing ESG standards will gain a competitive advantage, attract investment, and earn long-term credibility," Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha emphasised.

She affirmed that the Vietnamese Government regards sustainable development as a core objective in its socio-economic strategy and has enacted various policies to encourage businesses to pursue ESG practices, protect the environment, ensure social welfare, and enhance governance capacity.

The Ministry of Home Affairs plays a crucial role in shaping the legal framework, promoting administrative reform, strengthening state governance, and supporting the development of social organisations. In particular, the ministry was also key to guiding and developing the national labour market and human resources.

Deputy Minister Ha expressed confidence that the Vietnam ESG Forum will be a success and make a meaningful contribution to the country's sustainable development journey with active participation from ministries, sectors, localities, enterprises, academics, and civil society organisations.
