The southern province of Dong Nai has planned to start construction of Cat Lai Bridge in 2026 and open it to traffic by 2028.

Dong Nai People’s Committee held a working session on Tuesday with Construction Corporation 1 on building Cat Lai Bridge to replace the current ferry service.

The VND 18.8 trillion (USD 752 million) bridge would span more than 11.6 kilometres, including a 4.7-kilometre main bridge.

The project will commence on Nguyen Thi Dinh Street in HCM City, approximately 400 metres from the My Thuy interchange, and conclude at the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway in Dong Nai. It is designed for a speed of 80 km/h, with a width of 33.5 metres and eight lanes.

Ho Van Ha, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai People’s Committee, said that the Cat Lai Bridge project is essential for the locality to complete its regional transport infrastructure network.

Project documents must be completed for submission to the provincial party committee and, once endorsed, to the people’s council for investment approval.
