A dog that hospitalised a British tourist in the southern central city of Nha Trang, has been put down.

A dog that hospitalised a British tourist in the southern central city of Nha Trang, has been put down.

The dog belonged to Do Xuan Tung’s family in Vinh Hiep Commune.

Nguyen Chi Dung, chairman of the commune, said that on February 23 that local authorities used anaesthetic to put down the Alabai dog which weighs about 65 kilos.

Tung agreed to the course of action, saying that it was necessary to ensure safety. Tung said the dog had previously attacked other people.

British tourist Paul Zachary Staker, 18, was hospitalised due to the serious injuries caused by the dog on February 20.

Following surgery on his arm, his condition has improved and has been vaccinated against rabies. He is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the days to come.
