Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi are increasingly congested these days.
On Monday evening, VietJet Flight VJ149, scheduled to depart at 7 pm at Noi Bai for HCM City, was delayed until 10:30 pm.
A passenger said that he had to cancel a tour along with his friend in HCM City due to the rescheduled flight. Spending five hours at the airports just to wait left him very tired.
On Sunday, Vietnam Airlines Flight VN221 from HCM City to Hanoi was around two hours late. VietJet Flight VJ151 was four hours late, while, Bamboo Airlines Flight QH292 was delayed for one hour on June 24.
Many other flights from Noi Bai or Tan Son Nhat airports to different localities also suffered delays.
Under the Laws on Civil Aviation, in cases where flights are delayed for 4-6 hours, airlines have to provide free food and drinks for passengers. Free accommodation is offered to passengers when flights are six hours late.
Dang Anh Tuan, head of Vietnam Airlines' public relations department, said the rainy season had caused bad weather affecting flights.
Tuan added that Vietnam Airlines would ensure the rights of passengers in case of delayed flights.
In early June, VietJet’s check-in system faced technical problems, slowing down many of the firm’s flights at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
