According to the municipal Department of Construction, up to 55 restaurants in Son Tra District have been detected for construction violations. Among those, 17 restaurants have been built without licenses, including Ba Thoi 2 and 3, Be Ni 2 and Tho Y.

Meanwhile, many others have turned from houses into restaurants without conforming to environmental and fire prevention and control regulations or used part of their parking areas as seating for customers.
The Construction Department has requested restaurants which encroach parking areas to dismantle illegal areas. Those built without being licensed have to be removed before August 22 this year.
The city People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho partially blaming restaurants and stalls on the seafront for waste affecting the beach. He noted that local authorities would take more drastic actions to deal with the problem.
