Dalat to be expanded.
Under the plan announced on September 25 to rearrange administrative units in the province for the 2023-30 period, Dalat's 396-square kilometre tourist hub will be expanded by nearly 131,000 square kilometres of the Lac Duong District.
The committee said the merger hopes to capitalise on the similarities and strengths of the two areas to foster the development of tourism and agriculture.
Lying some 12 km north of Dalat city centre, Lac Duong is home to over 36,000 people with nearly 70 percent coming from ethnic groups.
The plan also said that the three southern districts of Da Huoai, Da Teh, and Cat Tien would be merged into one district.
The committee said that the merger will be completed by 2024.
