The case occurred at around 5:40 pm on Thursday when the Singaporean Wanhai A02 cargo ship hit the Cypriot Vassos 2 on the Thi Vai River.

The scence of the incident
The Wanhai was in motion in rough seas and strong winds while the Vassos was docked at Interflour Cai Mep Wharf.
Luckily, no one was injured but the collision caused around 46 metres of a wharf and part of the conveyor system and cargo suction equipment at the wharf to collapse.
Right after the incident, Vung Tau Maritime Port Authority was instructed to install underwater obstacle warning marine signal buoys and prepare solutions to deal with the oil spill risk.
The Vassos 2 was relocated some 30 kilometres away from the location where the incident happened.
