Authorities arrested on September 4 arrested four Vietnamese individuals at the Lao Cai International Border Gate area, seizing 9 rectangular gold pieces which measure 5.5cm long and 3.8cm wide each.
The four individuals are of a group that regularly transports goods from China to Vietnam through Lao Cai International Border Gate in exchange for money. They confessed to transporting the gold bars at the request of a Chinese woman from China to Vietnam, earning VND 100,000 per gold piece.
According to the Forensic Science Institute under the Ministry of Public Security, all confiscated gold bars totaling 2,533.2 grams in weight were nearly pure, with an average gold content of 99.95 per cent.
