Vietnamese airlines have continued increasing flights to meet rising demand during the coming Tet Lunar New Year Holiday.

Vietnam Airlines Group which consists of Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO have announced plans to provide additional 66,200 domestic tickets, equal to 310 flights, from January 25 to February 24. The firm will operate a total of 12,374 flights, or 2.64 million seats, during the time.

The added flights will focus on routes between HCM City and Hanoi, Danang, Phu Quoc, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Cam Ranh, Hai Phong, Quy Nhon, Hue and Da Lat.

Domestic airlines will provide a total of 33,800 flights on Tet, up 14 percent on-year and 21 percent compared to the normal flight schedule. Of the figure, domestic flights account for 24,200, up 2 percent on-year.

By January 12, many flights from HCM City to different localities had ticket shortages, including the HCM City-Thanh Hoa and Chu Lai-HCM City routes.

Passengers have been advised to come to airports three hours before the departure time to avoid congestion as Tet approaches. They also should use online and digital check-in methods to save time.
