A bomb weighing nearly 225 kilos dating back to the American War has been discovered in the Lam river in the central province of Nghe An.

A bomb weighing nearly 225 kilos dating back to the American War has been discovered in the Lam river in the central province of Nghe An.

According to local authorities, the bomb was found with its detonator intact at 10 a.m. on April 10 by local people who were fishing on the river. The bomb measures at 154 cm long with a diametre of 25 cm.

After receiving a report from local residents, Nghi Loc district’s military command dispatched a specialised unit to assess the situation and set up warning signs.

The bomb was later transported to a safe area and then destructed on April 14.
