2,000 European cruise tourists visit Ba Ria-Vung Tau

This was the first international cruise to the southern coastal province during the 2023 Tet Lunar New Year.

According to the Vivu Journeys Vietnam tour operator, as many as 1,800 among the 2,370 passengers on the ship participated in short tours to destinations in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and surrounding destinations in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region. Other passengers and over 900 crew members had their own schedules.

Most of the tourists are from Germany

Deputy director of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Department of Tourism, Tran Thi Thu Hien, said that over 95 percent of the visitors were from Germany.


"This is a positive sign for the local tourism industry in 2023," she said. "We're trying to promote cruise ship tours to attract more foreign tourists this year."

A representative from the Mein Schiff 5 management board, Stephan Zimmermann, said that he was very impressed by the friendliness of Ba Ria-Vung Tau authorities and people. He sent his sincere thanks for the local co-operation and support for the success of the trip.

After spending a day in Vietnam, the Mein Schiff 5 continued its trip to Thailand.
