This is an annual event jointly conducted by the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Hanoi. Its goal is to promote the protection and conservation of aquatic resources.

Checking the fish before releasing them
According to Ta Van Tuong, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, around 40,000 fish will be released into the Da, Tich, Duong, and Suoi Yen rivers this year.

The fish were released into the Red River
Luu Ngoc Tien, vice chairman of the Bo De Ward People's Committee in Long Bien District, said that releasing fish was a Buddhist practice. "This not only helps to protect the environment but balances aquatic resources," Tien noted.
