Vietnam and China co-host international cycling race

The northern mountainous province of Lao Cai and the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan jointly kicked off an annual international cycling race

The northern mountainous province of Lao Cai and the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan jointly kicked off an annual international cycling race on November 30.

The two-day event has gathered together 537 racers, including 276 from Vietnam.

Cyclists are competing in two categories. In the mountain bike category entrants are competing over 22 km, with groups for cyclists between the ages of 16 and 35, 36 and 49, 50 and 65 for men, as well as groups from 16 to 39 and 40 to 65 age for women. 

Competitors are also taking part in the road bike category for individuals and team events. Cyclists of various age groups, including 16 to 35, 36 to 45, and 46 to 65 for men, as well as 16 to 39 and 40 to 65 for women, challenge themselves in the 80-km distance.

Lao Cai and Yunnan have taken turns to host this large-scale bike race for those aged above 16 since 2017. This is the fifth edition of the event.
