According to the ministry's report, 4,356 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 40 localities including HCM City (1,960), Binh Duong (852), Dong Nai (534), An Giang (180), Kien Giang (79), Long An (74), and Tien Giang (72). There were seven imported patients confirmed today. There were 2,223 infections found in the community.
As of Wednesday evening, 818,091 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (403,454), Binh Duong (218,812), Dong Nai (52,551), Long An (33,015), and Tien Giang (14,303). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 822,687. The country now stands 43rd among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 6, an additional 10,033 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 757,086.
On Wednesday evening, a further 119 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 20,098. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (88), Binh Duong (16), Tien Giang (2), Long An (2), Dong Nai (2), Dong Thap (2), Tay Ninh (2), An Giang (2), Binh Dinh (1), Can Tho (1), and Kien Giang (1).
The country has so far conducted over 48.15 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 12.22 million people having received two doses.
