The second floors of houses on Trang Tien Street are being covered with tarpaulins to be repaired.
According to the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarters, the project investor, Trang Thi and Hang Khay streets have been renovated and the refurbishment of Trang Tien Street would align the aesthetics of the area.
Many households on Trang Tien Street have expanded their houses without permission. Some families have even placed their toilets outside on the balcony.
The investors have co-operated with the urban management to tackle the violations.
Trang Tien had many up-market shops, boutiques, pharmacies and restaurants during the French colonial period.
