Located on Cong Xa Paris Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, it was constructed by the French between 1886-1891.
The century-old building had Gothic, Renaissance, and French influences combined with Asian decor. It boasts typical French colonial features, ranging from exterior to interior decorations.
The site has attracted more mostly foreign tourists, after being selected on the list of the 11 most beautiful post offices worldwide.
According to the magazine, the yellow façade and green shutters of the post office have turned the building into not only just a post office but a popular tourist attraction.
14 public telephone booths were set up on two sides of the main hall. They are now just for decorations.
Some tourists are still sending postcards here.
The post office offers traditional postal services such as mailing, selling postcards and stamps, and foreign money exchange services.
