Director of the Binh Duong Department of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Thanh Toan, said that the plan aims to prevent and control environmental pollution, noise, fires and explosions in residential areas, and contribute to adjusting the province’s urban planning.
"Some 1,800 hectares of land acquired from the removal will be used for other purposes that support local people's lives," he said.
The official said that 71 percent of local industrial production establishments need to be relocated into industrial parks and clusters.
Director of the Binh Duong Provincial Department of Planning and Investment, Pham Trong Nhan, said that the province currently has 29 industrial parks and 12 clusters that have 85 percent and 68 percent occupancy rates respectively.
"There are enough space for all the businesses and factories to be relocated," he said.
As planned, factories in Thuan An City would be relocated between January 2024 and December 2028; those in Di An and Thu Dau Mot cities between January 2024 and June 2030; Tan Uyen City between January 2024 and December 2029, and Ben Cat Town between January 2024 and December 2030.
Toan said that local authorities would support businesses that are required to relocate and help ensure their production activities after relocation.
