Hanoi authorities safely remove a bomb near Long Bien Bridge on October 24.

Some local fishermen found the M-118 bomb weighing 1,362 kilos on the afternoon of October 21.

After being informed about the bomb, military forces in Long Bien District sent a team to guard the area to ensure safety.

The bomb, which is 210 cm in length and 56 cm in diameter, is said to date from the US war.

Initial checking showed that the bomb’s fuse was intact, and explosives were inside.

The bomb was safely relocated to a land plot far away from residential areas to await disarming.

A bomb of the same type was also found in the area and safely defused on October 10.

Long Bien Bridge was heavily bombed between 1965 and 1972 by the US troops in the war, which ended in 1975 following the fall of the Saigon regime.
