HCM City tightens safety rules for water sports

Customers must be provided with life jackets and rescue equipment, while operators are required to maintain safety oversight and suspend activities in adverse conditions.

Authorities in Vung Tau Ward, HCM City, have ordered stricter oversight of water sports and recreational activities at local beaches to improve safety for residents and tourists.

Under the new measures, motorised water sports may operate only in designated areas approved by authorities. Operators must install warning signs, establish clear operating boundaries and prevent watercraft from leaving authorised zones.

All watercraft must be registered and undergo technical inspections before entering service. Operators are required to complete safety training and be familiar with emergency response procedures.

Local authorities have instructed relevant agencies to review operating zones, process registration procedures and organise safety training for operators and rescue staff.
