Central region forecasted to struggle with heavy rains

The central region of Vietnam has been forecasted to face torrential rains which may trigger flash floods and landslides in some days.

According to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, localities from Thua Thien-Hue to Binh Dinh are expected to experience heavy downpours from November 21-24, with total rainfall of between 100-250mm. In some areas, rainfall could reach up to 350mm.

Low-lying areas would be at risk of flash floods and landslides.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has urged localities and relevant agencies to closely monitor forecasts and warnings about heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides. Residents in vulnerable areas should be promptly evacuated to ensure their safety.

Localities must ensure the safety of reservoirs and downstream areas and make arrangements to promptly address any potential incidents.

The National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting reported that localities from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai experienced scattered showers on November 20-21, with the highest rainfall of 70mm.
