According to Nguyen Thanh Tri, director of Phu Yen Department of Transport, the upgrade of the airport for international fights has been finished following approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam.

The airport has new systems that ensure flight operations like a non-direction beacon (NDB), VOR/DME radio beacon, and instrument landing system, among others.

On Thursday, representatives from local authorities and Russia’s Azur Air and Ual Airlines signed commitments on opening flights to Tuy Hoa as well as bringing foreign visitors to the locality.

Pham Dai Duong, chairman of Phu Yen People’s Committee, said that in the coming time, tourism will be seen as the locality’s key sector.

The airport which is some five kilometres from Tuy Hoa City is targeted to lure 550,000 passengers per year.

Phu Yen is home to Dai Lanh Cape, Vung Ro Bay, Mon Beach, Dien Cape and Da Dia reef.
