Over 18,000 athletes, including nearly 1,300 coming from 55 nations worldwide, are ready to compete in the Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race 2024 which will be held on November 3.

This marks a 150% increase compared to the previous marathon and sets the highest attendance record to date, with this figure highlighting the strong growth of running within the local community.

Trinh Nhu Quynh, head of Corporate Affairs, Branding & Marketing of Standard Chartered Vietnam, said, “We are proud to be the official sponsor of the Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race 2024, a sporting event that embraces the diversity and heritage of Hanoi.”

“This is the 10th event in the world-famous Standard Chartered Marathon series and pivotal in a series of events commemorating the bank’s 120-year presence in Vietnam. Becoming the official sponsor for a reputable marathon is testament to our strong investment in Vietnam. We want to be a part of Vietnam for the long run and build this marathon up to be a community event, uniting all social classes together and fostering a healthy lifestyle,” Quynh added.

The Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race track is designed in accordance with global standards for all major marathons. All four distance events, including five km, 10km, 21km, and 42km, are standardised and certified by the Association of International Marathon and Distance Races (AIMS).

Runners at the Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race may use their results at this marathon to register for the World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships, a global organisation with six of the most prestigious marathons worldwide (Six Majors). These include the New York Marathon, Chicago Marathon, London Marathon, Boston Marathon, Tokyo Marathon, and Berlin Marathon.

The opening ceremony of Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race 2024 will begin at 20:00 p.m. on November 1 at Thong Nhat Park. This represents a unique blend of music and sports, using the marathon to boost the spirit of competition, strength, endurance, and the building of communities.
