According to authorities from Danang Airport, the flight was scheduled to depart Danang at 10.50 pm on October 20 and arrive in Seoul the following morning.
At 9.05 pm, ground staff discovered the damage to the plane's radome, over 0.5 metres in diameter, with red marks believed to be blood from a bird strike.
"The damage might have been caused by a bird strike when the plane landed in Danang the night before," the airport said.
The aircraft remained at Danang Airport Monday afternoon for further inspection and repairs.
Bird-scaring devices have been installed at local airports, but incidents such as these often occur outside airport boundaries during take-offs or landings.
Earlier on May 19, a Vietnam Airlines flight from Vinh City to HCM City landed with a cracked cockpit window and traces of blood suspected to be from a bird strike.
