The central province of Ha Tinh is vulnerable to widespread flooding due to heavy rain and water discharges by hydropower reservoirs.

Over the past two days, Ha Tinh has been struggling with intense rain, causing many roads and bridges to be flooded and isolating Rao Tre Village in Huong Khe District.

The Ngan Pho River’s water level is considerably rising.

In Vu Quang District, many roads were submerged.

Meanwhile, many hydropower reservoirs in the province discharged water, worsening the flooding.

Huong Son Reservoir in Huong Son District discharged substantial amounts of water at 1.30 pm on Friday.

On Thursday, Ho Ho Hydropower Power Plant released a large amount of water.

On Friday, many areas in Ha Tinh recorded a rainfall of up to 287mm.

The province has been warned of further torrential rain until September 23. Prolonged and heavy rain would bring about landslides, flash floods and massive inundation in many areas, including the districts of Huong Khe, Vu Quang, Huong Son, Duc Tho, and Cam Xuyen, and Ky Anh Town.
