Four people were found dead, and one other was injured in a landslide that buried a passenger bus carrying more than 20 people in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang on Monday morning.

Rescue forces looking for the victim at the site

The incident occurred at around 9 am on National Highway 34, which runs through Ca Thanh Commune in Nguyen Binh District.

According to the initial information, the vehicle, which was on its way from Bao Lam District to Cao Bang City, stopped for several hours on National Highway 34 to avoid landslides. Suddenly, the hill adjacent to the vehicle collapsed, pushing it into a stream.

The floodwater then swept the vehicle away.

The passengers were all from Nguyen Binh District.

Following rescue efforts from local authorities, five people were found, including four dead and one injured.

Due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi, many northern mountainous localities, including Cao Bang, are struggling with landslides and serious inundation.

The districts of Ha Quang, Nguyen Binh, Bao Lam, Trung Khanh, Thach Anh, and Cao Bang City have been hardest hit.

Many residents have been evacuated to ensure safety.
