Dantri Newspaper launched a fund (Code 240501) on September 10 to gather financial donations for people in northern flood-hit localities. The fund will provide immediate support and long-term development projects for residents of flood-hit areas.

The Newspaper opened another fund (Code 240502) to call for community support for Lang Nu Village in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, where up to 33 households were buried or swept away in horrific flash floods and landslides triggered by Typhoon Yagi on September 10, leaving 52 people dead, 15 injured, and 14 missing.

As of the evening of September 16, the two funds had received over VND6.30 billion, including over VND3.84 billion for Code 240501 and over VND2.54 billion for Code 240502.

On September 13, Dantri Editor-in-Chief Pham Tuan Anh transferred reader donations of VND2 billion to the Lao Cai Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to help rebuild Lang Nu Village.

The newspaper also sent 53 tonnes of rice and essential goods to flood victims in Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, and Bac Giang. More than VND200 million has also been given to people who lost their family members or houses in the natural disaster.
