Temporary shelters set up for evacuated households in Cao Bang

Around 86 temporary shelters have been established to serve the evacuation of households at a high risk of landslides in the northern province of Cao Bang.

The households are in Nguyen Binh District which has been hard hit by landslides and flash floods due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi.

 

A landslide spot in Ca Thanh Commune


According to Hoang Van Thach, vice chairman of the Cao Bang People’s Committee, Nguyen Binh District has seen many landslide spots following the typhoon, particularly in Ca Thanh and Yen Lac communes.

Local authorities were instructed to evacuate many households in vulnerable areas. The residents have been arranged to stay at 86 temporary tents to ensure safety. The tents are situated in Vu Nong, Ca Thanh and Yen Lac communes.

Nguyen Binh District has selected the location for building prefabricated metal houses for households in Yen Lac and Ca Thanh communes that completely lost their homes following Typhoon Yagi.

On September 9, some landslides occurred in Ca Thanh District, burying a passenger car and some motorbikes, leaving at least 30 dead.
