Traffic problems began at midnight yesterday and stretched through to 2 pm this afternoon, June 7, with the area still suffering.
According to drivers, it was the sharp increase in lorries driving freight to and from Cat Lai Port in District 2 that caused the problem.
Traffic police have been actively working with the port security force to regulate the traffic, however, the situation has not improved.
The congestion around Cat Lai Port has also caused traffic jams for many neighbouring roads such as Mai Chi Tho and the Hanoi Highway. The direction from Phu My Bridge to District 2 was also congested for hours.
Many people were late, while students waited for hours to catch buses.
