Speaking at the ceremony, State President Phuc congratulated teachers and students on the new school year. He praised the outstanding achievements that the school made in the past academic year and gave presents to eight students who won high prizes in the international Olympic competitions this year.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ceremony at Doan Thi Diem Primary School in the capital city.
Earlier while coming to inspect preparations for the new academic year in Phu Tho Province on Saturday, the PM stressed that the Ministry of Education and Training and localities must strictly implement party and state education and training guidelines and policies so that education was a true top national policy.

In Ho Chi Minh City, some 1.70 million students came to attend the new school year opening ceremony early in the morning.
HCM City Party Committee Secretary, Nguyen Van Nen attended the ceremony at Le Quy Don High School.
A 12-grade student at the school, Pham Gia Han, said that she was very happy and eager for a new school year after a difficult year last year caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. "Last year we had to attend this ceremony online and then studied online most of the time which was very inconvenient," Gia Han remembered. "We also lost some teachers and friends due to Covid-19. It was really a hard time."

The 2022-2023 school year is divided into two terms, with the first term scheduled to be finished before January 15, 2023, and the second term completion slated before May 31.
