The announcement was revealed at a press conference held by the Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee in Hanoi on January 22.

The festival is a significant event aimed at boosting cooperation among domestic and foreign enterprises operating in the coffee producing industry and stimulating import-export activities.

It is also considered a good chance for businesses to meet, exchange experiences and promote their products, thus developing the Buon Ma Thuot coffee trademark, and boosting trade promotion, particularly in coffee - a key export item of Dak Lak province.

In addition, it targets expanding consumption markets and playing an active role in regional and international economic integration.

This year’s festival is expected to attract more than 300 domestic and foreign enterprises touting their wares in more than 650 pavilions. During the festival, many cultural, music and sport activities, exhibitions and scientific seminars on coffee cultivation will take place throughout the province.

Production enterprises will also display various kinds of coffee products including powdered coffee, bean coffee, fresh coffee fruit as well as handcrafts made from coffee trees.

Other seminars on coffee trees and the Buon Ma Thuot coffee trademark will be held during the festival. The organising board plans to install a computer system linked directly to the London market to obtain online updates on coffee transactions.

Dinh Van Khiet, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee said Dak Lak is located in a strategic position in the Central Highlands and is one of the important regions in terms of economics, politics, security and defence.

Buon Ma Thuot city alone produces about 450,000 tonnes of coffee beans annually and grosses over US$700 million in revenues per year, accounting for 80% of Dak Lak province’s total export turnover.

It exports coffee to 60 countries around the globe.

The festival he said offers opportunities to promote the Vietnamese coffee trademark in general and Buon Ma Thuot coffee in particular and attract more foreign investors to the province.
