Trang Nhung, first runner-up of Miss Vietnam in Photos 2005, and model Phan Nhu Thao of Venus model company were invited to attend the pageant at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. After getting a license from the Performing Art Agency, both girls left to go to the U.S.
However, when they arrived, they were soon informed that the Miss Global Vietnam 2010 has been cancelled. From the U.S., Trang Nhung shared with DTiNews, “The Organising Board of the contest unexpectedly informed us of this decision when most contestants have already made their way to Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, where the pageant was to be held from August 16 - 21.”
“Phan Nhu Thao had arrived here before me. Many contestants are upset with this unexpected turn, for the costs involved in their preparation for this event had been high already. According to the Organising Board, the contest will be postponed until November 27. It is uncertain whether it will actually take place that day,” Trang Nhung added.
According to Trang Nhung, the reason given for the cancellation of Miss Global Vietnam 2010 was very vague. “They said that due to a few problems, they could not hold the contest at this point in time,” Trang Nhung said.
On her part, Trang Nhung shared, “I had planned for this trip to be both for the contest and my own pleasure, so I’m not really disappointed. Even though it is not going to take place now, I will still remain in the U.S. for about 2 weeks for travel. Whether the contest is going to be held or not, it’s not really important to me.”
As a result of this unexpected cancellation, both Trang Nhung and Phan Nhu Thao will return to Vietnam. In response to a question on whether the two will attend the contest in November, neither wanted to give an answer at this time.
