The festival, part of the Autumn Festival under Hue Festival 2026, will feature ceremonies at Hon Chen Temple, Hai Cat Village Communal House and the Holy Mother Temple at 352 Chi Lang Street in Phu Xuan Ward.
Highlights will include processions honouring the Holy Mother and the Four Palaces pantheon, along with religious rituals on the Huong River, creating a distinctive spiritual and cultural setting associated with the former imperial capital.
The Holy Mother procession will depart from the temple on Chi Lang Street for Hon Chen Temple on August 20, followed by an opening ceremony and pilgrimage activities.
The main ceremony will be held on August 21, featuring prayers for peace and prosperity, followed by a procession carrying the Holy Mother and the Four Palaces pantheon to Hai Cat Village Communal House.
A ceremony will be held at the communal house on August 22 before the procession returns to Hon Chen Temple and the Holy Mother Temple, concluding the festival.
Visitors will receive free admission to Hon Chen Temple from August 18-22.
The Hon Chen Temple Festival is recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage and is closely associated with the Vietnamese belief in the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms, which UNESCO inscribed on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016.
Located on Ngoc Tran Mountain beside the Huong River, Hon Chen Temple, also known as Hue Nam Temple, is dedicated to the Holy Mother Thien Y A Na, the goddess Po Nagar and other deities.
The festival is traditionally held twice a year, in the third and seventh lunar months, drawing large numbers of pilgrims and visitors.
Ahead of this year's event, a scientific conference on preserving and promoting the festival's intangible cultural heritage will be held on August 19.
