During the visit, the delegation announced that VND219,012,415 had been transferred to her bank account, a sum contributed by readers of Dantri in support of her family.
This donation followed the publication of Tra's heartbreaking story in Dantri.
A family in tragedy
In March 2024, Tra's husband tragically passed away in a traffic accident. Just seven months later, in October 2024, her son, Ho Thanh Lam, succumbed to pancreatic cancer after a six-year battle. When Lam passed away, Tra was in such dire financial straits that she couldn't afford a coffin or funeral arrangements for him.
Lam had been divorced for years, and his wife had left without maintaining contact with the family.
Now, Tra, at 58 years old and struggling with health conditions such as heart valve disease, high blood pressure, and vestibular disorders, is left to care for her 88-year-old ill mother and two grandchildren, Ho Thanh Truc and Ho Bao Khang. Financial hardship forced her to withdraw Thanh Truc, 14, from school in seventh grade to help her work on the farm.

Donations bring renewed hope
Upon receiving the donation on March 24, Tra was overwhelmed with gratitude. She stated that she would use the money to pay off debts, buy medicine for her elderly mother, and save for her grandchildren's education.
"I extend my heartfelt thanks to Dantri readers," she said emotionally.
Beyond financial assistance, Tra has also received support and encouragement from many individuals. A local benefactor has pledged to sponsor Ho Bao Khang, 10, to cover his school expenses.
Meanwhile, the Principal of Hoa Loc Secondary School, Trinh Van Son, assured that the school would facilitate Thanh Truc's return to education.
"She will resume her seventh-grade studies in the new academic year. To encourage her, the school will waive tuition fees and provide school supplies and clothing," Son stated.
