Van Danh, a courageous train accident victim and survivor, was so thrilled to receive his first ever Christmas gift.
On Christmas Eve, Dan Tri online newspaper handed over a VND31,597 million ($1,685) donation from readers collected over the past half month. After being discharged from the hospital, Van Danh had a simple, warm Christmas Eve on the streets.

After having his leg severed by the train, X-Ray results revealed that his vesica, anus, rectum and hip bone had also been lost. Thus, it was very difficult to get his urinary and digestion systems treated as well as to fix him with an artificial leg.
“He was very happy to know he was going to be discharged from the hospital. He insisted on coming home and going to school.” said Danh’s mother. But his medical needs have not been fully completed yet, so he can not come back home.

Danh’s father has been deeply moved by all of the compassionate support from kind hearted supporters. He told, “We are very much grateful to those who have helped my son. I want to express our warmest thank-you to the kind-hearted readers and donators of Dan Tri.” After receiving the donation, they decided to give VND1 million ($53) to the twins who have visual impairment.
Danh had a joyful Christmas Eve on the streets. It was the first time he has ever received a gift from Santa Claus. Previous Christmas seasons he just stayed at home.

Oanh explained: “It’s very cold in Khanh Hoa during Christmas time.” Her family tries to save as much money as they can for Danh’s treatments.
However, this Christmas she decided to splurge a bit and buy Danh a Santa Claus costume. While putting the costume on Danh, the seller was very moved by the unfortunate boy. It’s hard to believe in the great energy of such a little boy when he is trying to struggle against all the difficulties he faces with his disabilities.
Despite of his disability, Danh is full of energy.
