This year, the Kitchen Gods’ Day, which is held on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month, will fall on January 22, 2025.
With prices soaring to VND170,000 per kilogram of red carps, many households in Quang Xuong's Tan Phong Town are set to earn hundreds of millions of VND during the Tet season.
The price of red carps has surged this year to VND150,000–170,000 per kilogram, an increase of VND50,000–70,000 compared to last year.
Since the start of this month, locals have been draining their ponds and catching fish for sale.
Nguyen Van Loan’s family in Tan Phong Town harvested around 2 tonnes of red carps, selling them at VND150,000 per kilogramme and earning over VND100 million during this Kitchen Gods' Day. According to Loan, traders placed orders early this year, and many fish ponds have already sold out.
According to locals in Tan Phong, Typhoon Yagi has led to crop failures in some fish farming villages, resulting in higher prices.
Tan Phong Town is home to 150 households that raise red carps, annually supplying approximately 40–50 tonnes of fish to the market for the Kitchen Gods’ Day celebration.
