A seven-year-old girl suffers serious injuries after being attacked by a wild monkey while playing in her home yard in Quang Tri Province on December 13.
The incident occurred in Ba Don Ward, Quang Tri Province, on December 13, when a monkey emerged from rocky outcrops near a residential area and attacked the child, her family said.
She was taken to a local health station before being transferred to Quang Binh Friendship Hospital with multiple bleeding injuries.
Doctors reported a large open wound with jagged edges on the girls right cheek, along with bruising and several bleeding injuries to the back of her head.
She underwent surgery and was treated with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and pain relief medication, and was given tetanus and rabies vaccines as a precaution.
Her condition is being closely monitored by medical staff.
Local authorities said the monkey had repeatedly entered nearby residential areas in search of food and had previously injured four other residents.
