Wild plum trees seized through illegal logging in Sapa

Authorities in Sapa Town in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai have found four wild plum trees in an illegal logging case.

Authorities in Sapa Town in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai have found four wild plum trees in an illegal logging case.

According to Hoang Lien National Park, forest protection authorities in Sapa and the park have jointly co-operated to solve the case.

The plum trees replanted


The plum trees have diametres of 7-20 centimetres with roots largely intact.

After receiving the trees, the Hoang Lien National Park Centre for Rescue and Conservation replanted them.

These kinds of plum trees belong to the rose family (Rosaceae). The species are often seen mainly in temperate and subtropical zones and those at a height of 1,200-2,400 metres. The trees are also found in some areas at Hoang Lien National Park.
