The Vietnamese men’s football team
Following the AFC U23 Championship finals, Vietnam’s U23 side are to gather in Hanoi on March 23 to participate in a friendly match three days later. The senior Vietnamese national team will then travel to face Malaysia ahead of their crucial fixture in the second qualifying round in the Asian region for the World Cup 2022 on March 31.
At present, Vietnam are currently topping their group after winning three matches and drawing two games. The national team’s upcoming ties away to Malaysia on March 31, at home to Indonesia on June 4, and away to the UAE on June 9, are set to prove a huge challenge if Vietnam wants to hang on to the top position in the group.
After the summer the months of August, September, October, and November will see the Vietnamese men’s football team hold four short training camps ahead of the teams participation in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020.
As current champion following their win in the AFF Cup 2018, the squad are expected to make every effort to defend their title.
Elsewhere the Vietnamese women’s football team are to compete in the third qualifying round for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in early February.
The months of April and May will see the women footballers attempt to defend their title as holders of the AFF Cup.
