Vietnam Airlines said it had proactively implemented route adjustments following notices from authorities on temporary air traffic restrictions in certain areas of Taiwan airspace.

From 12 am to 10 am UTC, equivalent to 7 am to 5 pm Vietnam time, on December 30, flights operated by Vietnam Airlines to and from Taiwan, as well as services passing through north-east Asia, will be rerouted to avoid restricted airspace.

As a result, flight times may be extended by 15 to 30 minutes compared with schedules. To accommodate the longer routes, aircraft will need to carry additional fuel, which may require payload limitations, including reductions in checked baggage or passenger numbers on some flights.

Vietnam Airlines said it is closely monitoring developments and working with relevant authorities to update operating plans and provide timely information to passengers.

The carrier advised passengers travelling to or from Taiwan, or flying through north-east Asia during this period, to regularly check and update their flight information.
