U.S. professors receive grants to teach at VN universities

Five American professors are going to teach at Vietnamese universities for the 2010/2011 academic year.

A program started in 2008 by the Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) will send yet another group of American professors to teach at Vietnamese universities for the 2010/2011 academic year.

VEF provides United States Faculty Scholars (USFS) with grants to teach either in person or via interactive video-conferencing in Vietnam. The mission is to bring the United States and Vietnam closer together through educational exchanges. The subjects include science, engineering, mathematics, medicine and technology.

As U.S. Ambassador Michael Michalak noted, "The VEF U.S. Faculty Scholar Program is an outstanding U.S. government funded program, which reflects one of our mission\'s top priorities of enhancing American cooperation with Vietnam in the area of education. I believe it will also serve to support Vietnam\'s efforts to further reform and develop its higher education system."

VEF is a U.S. federal government agency which has been operating for 8 years. VEF also provides scholarship and Fellowship opportunities for Vietnamese students.
