A series of Vietnamese-made cartoons entitled “Say Hi to Pencil” has been aired on Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) at 6.20pm on Mondays and Thursdays every week since July 2.

The series includes 50 short films, each lasting 8-10 minutes.

The cartoon “Say Hi to Pencil” won the top award at the worldwide United Nations PLURAL + Video Festival held in the US in May 2011.

“Say Hi to Pencil”, based on the UN contest topics of migration, diversity, identity and integration, tells the story of how a pencil adapts to life with a family of highlighters that are always trying to kick it out.

The 21 year old makers of the video, Huynh Thanh Thanh and Pham Phuong Anh, are journalism students at the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
