A tree at a secondary school in HCM City fell over this morning, April 3, injuring seven people.

The incident occurred at Tran Van On Secondary School in District 1 at around 7 am when the 15-metre-high tree suddenly collapsed to the ground despite the fine weather.

The scence of the accident


The tree fell onto seven people who were standing nearby. All seven were injured and quickly sent to District 1’s General Hospital. Two suffered light injuries and have been kept at hospital, while five others have been sent to other hospitals due to their more serious conditions.

Among those, one is a 32-year-old pregnant woman who has been hardest hit with serious injuries to her liver, legs and kidneys. The woman has been taken to Gia Dinh People’s Hospital for surgery.

Gia Dinh People’s Hospital is also serving another 56-year-old victim, who is also suffering from chest injuries.

Meanwhile, a Grade-7 student is receiving treatment for a broken thigh bone at Children’s Hospital 2.

The incident also damaged around five motorbikes.

The cause of the tree collapsing is under investigation.
