A woman and her two children die after their house catches fire in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa on January 29.
Reports from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department said that the fire occurred at a three-storey house in Vinh Loc District at 11.30 pm on January 29.
Le Ngoc Tuan noticed a fire breaking out on the ground floor, which was used as a motorbike repair shop. He tried to bring the blaze under control with a fire extinguisher. However, as the fire spread so fast, he ran out to call for help and forgot to wake his wife and two children who were sleeping on the second floor.
Some neighbours rushed to the site and tried to help put the fire out and rang for firefighters. When the firefighters arrived at 11.45 pm, the fire had spread all over the first floor.
The fire was brought under control shortly after that. However, the house was nearly burnt down and Tuan's wife, Trinh Thi, 40, and their two children aged 11 and 6 were found dead in the debris.
Police are further investigating the cause of the fire.
