Ky Son District ravaged by the flooding and landslides

According to a report from the Chieu Luu People’s Committee, the flooding has totally ruined one local house and damaged five others. Meanwhile, nine households in the locality have been relocated. Roughly seven hectares of crops have also been seriously inundated.

The Chieu Luu-Bao Thang road has seen severe landslides, blocking traffic on some sections. The heavy rain has submerged part of Chieu Luu 2 Primary School.

Losses caused by flooding and landslides are estimated at around VND10.5 billion (USD431,034).

Tho Ba Re, vice chairman of the Ky Son District People’s Committee said that excavators are being used to clear roads. Food supplies are difficult due to the high water levels of local streams.

The stream linking Chieu Luu with Huu Lap communes has faced severe flooding which has affected the rescue work. Local authorities have had to wait for the water to retreat to carry out the work, Re added.

On September 12, 500 donated baskets of instant noodles and 150 kilos of fish were provided to households in the communes of Bao Nam, Bao Thang and Chieu Luu.
