Dinh Thi Thu Hong, head of the Female Department 1 and wife of the hospital's director Trinh Van Anh, also committed the same crime and sold the prescribed medicines for VND501m.
Phan Van Gioi, head of the Male Department 2, earned VND107m (USD4,600) from using the same method from 2017 to June 2018. Gioi said he knew that it was wrong and stopped appropriating patients' medicines for several months but violated the regulations again last November.
On October 30, the police in Thanh Hoa prosecuted the violators and searched their houses.
The police also banned two nurses, Pham Thi Nhung and Pham Thi Phuong, from leaving their residential area. The nurses are also charged for abusing position and power for personal gain.
