A metal roof is blown off during the powerful whirlwind in Danang City on November 16.
Le Van Ninh, chairman of Chien Dan Commune, said the powerful whirlwind struck abruptly at around 10.30 pm, causing widespread damage to homes and vegetation, and leaving many areas without electricity.
Authorities swiftly dispatched emergency rescue teams to assist residents in dealing with the aftermath. Crews cleared fallen debris from National Highway 40B, restoring traffic flow overnight, while working with the power company to repair the disruptions.
Preliminary assessment shows that two houses lost their roofs entirely, and nearly twenty more were partially damaged. Numerous trees were uprooted or broken.
Fortunately, the tornado caused no fatalities, though two people were injured and taken to hospital.
On the morning of November 17, local officials from Chien Dan continued surveying the damage to compile reports and help residents begin recovery efforts.
