State President attends Party congress in Binh Phuoc

Binh Phuoc province should pay more attention to economic growth, improving living standards, and ensuring security and defense.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet made the statement at the 9th Congress of the Binh Phuoc provincial Party Committee on September 27.

Mr. Triet said although Binh Phuoc has made significant achievements in economic growth, it is still a poor province.

The province, therefore, needs to focus on shortcomings and challenges to work out measures to promote economic, social, and cultural growth, he said.

According to a political report presented at the congress, Binh Phuoc enjoyed an average economic growth rate of 13.2 percent over the past 5 years, per capita income reaches VND18,500 (about US$950) per year. Political security and social order has also always been ensured.

** On the same day, provincial party committees in Lam Dong, Quang Nam, and Hai Duong opened their party congresses in the presence of Party Politburo members Pham Quang Nghi, Truong Tan Sang, and Phung Quang Thanh, respectively.
