Dantri and Lang Giang District People's Committee representatives visited the family of Ngo Thi Nga in Tien Luc Commune on April 1 and transferred VND 285,283,500 which readers sent to the newspaper's Charity Programme to help the family after reading her story.
Ngo Thi Nga, 32, has been living with thyroid cancer. However, she has suspended her treatment for many months due to the family’s financial difficulties.
According to Nga, her eldest daughter Nguyen Thuy Ngan was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2014. Two years later, her second child Nguyen Trong Khanh, three years old, was also diagnosed with leukaemia.
After giving birth to their third child Nguyen Trong Khoi in 2020, Nga felt tired and suffered from fevers. Doctors said that she had developed thyroid cancer.
The whole family now depends on the modest income of her husband Nguyen Dinh Tien who does different kinds of odd jobs, including being a porter to earn money.
Their two children need to be hospitalised every 15 days for treatment, but the family's difficult financial situation meant they could not continue the treatment. They have already incurred large debts.
Receiving the donations, Nga sent her sincere thanks to Dantri Newspapers and all the donors for their valuable support to her family. The woman said that she had also received over VND 230 million which donors sent to her private bank account.
"With this money, we'll now be able to continue the treatment for our children. Thank you so much," she said.
